The August Lincoln City Supporters’ Trust Board meeting was primarily focused on activities and initiatives for the coming season.
The ‘Trust us to Cover it’ campaign will continue into the coming months with more activities planned to raise money that will go towards the purchase of pitch covers, a new Football League requirement. The recent auction of a signed Chris Sutton Celtic shirt had raised £200 on the day. With the help of the Celtic Supporters’ Trust a Celtic fanatic living in Korea purchased the shirt via telephone bids.
The appointment of Imps legend Grant Brown as Head of Youth, supported by Andy McMillan was fully supported. It was noted that City youths will be involved on match days as Lincoln move to a multi-ball system.
The Supporters’ Trust has taken a leading role in developing Lincoln City as a club closely linked into the community and the latest initiative has been to secure external funding for a community worker who will hopefully start work in the next few weeks.
The Fan of the Day scheme will continue for the 2010/11 season with lucky Trust members being chosen at random and offered, with one or two guests, an opportunity for a pre-match behind the scenes tour.
Recent improvements at Sincil Bank, including the car parking and roadways within the stadium were welcomed, they do give a much more professional look to visiting fans.
Trust Chair Lissie Wilkins said, “During a productive meeting we also heard from our events committee of exciting plans for more free fans forums, a race nite, a celebration marking the 35th anniversary of the promotion gained by Graham Taylor’s team and, hopefully, an evening with world cup final referee Howard Webb.
